Student Support
WHAT IS A COMMONWEALTH HEALTH DISPARITY SCHOLAR?
The COMMONWEALTH HEALTH DISPARITY SCHOLARS FUND is financial support available through an award which the CMH receives from the University’s Office of the Provost. It is important to note that these funds are not related to the GSR positions. The monies from this fund constitute small awards that can be used for such things as: partial tuition, other school-related expenses such as books or a computer, academic or career-related travel, professional conferences and meetings, and membership in professional organizations. You are welcome to apply for these funds but please know that there is no guarantee that you will receive an award. Funds will be allocated based on need, access to other financial resources, and the student’s academic and professional interests addressing racial and ethnic health disparities through their academic scholarship. If you do receive an award, the funds are applied first to your tuition/student account. If you do not have an outstanding tuition balance when your award is applied, you will receive a check from the University.
