The purpose of this conference is to bring together a select group of researchers and community members to create a collaborative plan for eliminating health disparities. Our morning speakers on March 31 are all researchers bringing universities and communities together to address health disparities. Our afternoon panelists represent many of Ohio’s multicultural communities as well as public health and civic organizations.

Pittsburgh's Center for Minority Health will conduct a pre-conference workshop March 30 for academic faculty interested in engaging communities in health interventions and translational research. Designated a Research Center of Excellence in Minority Health Disparities by NIH, the center’s interventions include genetic family health histories, barbershop outreach, and the Healthy Black Family Project. Ohio State’s new Center for Health Equity and Multicultural Health is uniquely positioned to play a similar role in Ohio.

We hope to end the conference with a blueprint for moving forward in collaboration to end health disparities.
